Hostel

 

The Hostel life at Maharani Girls College forms an essential part of the young women’s education at the institution. Hostel life is an excellent opportunity for the development and enrichment of the character and personality of inmates.


There are two hostels providing accommodation to the students namely —

Maharani Girls Hostel Block 1

Maharani Girls Hostel Block 2
 

There are double and triple seater rooms. Each room is well equipped with bed, tables and chairs, cupboards, shoe-racks and bookshelves. The rooms are spacious ventilated, airy and well lit.



Facilities:
There is a great emphasis on cleanliness in the hostels. The availability of daily newspapers in all the hostels keep the students attuned to the day-to-day happenings. Each hostel has an attached common area, which is large and well spaced and has television and other recreational facilities. The common area serves as an excellent center for relaxation and recreation. The farewell programme, dawn party etc are also held in the common area.


There is a common Dining room to accommodate the residents of all the hostels for all the meals. The Dining room has adequate seating facilities and serves vegetarian food.

 

The Hostel Fee is to be paid in two installment of Rs. 39000/- each.


GENERAL
i. . These rules are intended to provide a safe and conducive environment to all the students of MGC. All the students of MGC shall be governed by these rules and regulation.

ii.The hostel chief warden is vested with the power to interpret and enforce the rules and regulations with respect to running of the hostel, Admissions/readmissions.

iii. The campus area is pedestrian and students are not permitted to bring their motor vehicles into the campus.
 



LODGING

i. Allotment of the rooms shall be made by the assistant warden under the direction of the chief warden.
ii. No room shall be occupied without payment of hostel fees and mess dues.
iii. Students must occupy the room allotted to them and should not change/ exchange the rooms without written Permission of the chief warden.
iv. Students may be shifted from one room to another without assigning any reasons.
v. Hostel furniture shall not be removed from the rooms. Students are responsible for the care of the furniture and fixtures in their rooms.
vi. All the rooms, wall, door, and windows must be kept clean and tidy.
vii. The students are not permitted to stay away from the hostel beyond permitted time without prior permission from the assistant warden. Those leaving the campus must inform the assistant warden and registrar at the security gate.
viii. If a student chooses to go on leave from the hostel, he/she has to inform in writing the reasons for the absence and the duration and obtain the written consent from the assistant warden before leaving.
ix. Students are requested to switch off fans and lights whenever they go out of their rooms to save on electric power.
x. Guests are NOT permitted to enter any rooms allotted to their residents of the hostel without the written permission of the warden.
xi. Acts of damage to the hostel property will be dealt with by the hostel committee and punishment would be in the form of levying fines and /or expulsion from the hostel.



DISCIPLINE

i. Students shall not issue orders to the hostel employees or interfere in their functioning. Misconduct of hostel employees shall be reported in writing to the warden with full particulars.
ii. Students are requested not to be pay tips to any employee of the hostel.
iii. Students are not allowed to put up notices or convene meeting within the hostel premises without the written consent of the warden.
iv. At all time, especially between 9 PM and 6 AM, students shall not create any disturbances by playing loud music etc. this period has to treated as study/rest hours.
v. The hostel buildings and mess are strictly “NO SMOKING” zones.
vi. Consumption of alcoholic drinks and drugs within the campus premises is strictly prohibited. Any student violating this rule will be expelled from the hostel and referred to the disciplinary committee for action.
vii. No weapon or firearms shall be kept or used by the students. Mere possession of weapons or firearms constitutes a grievous offence that can result in expulsion from the hostel.
viii. The residents are required to carry their identity cards, Issued by the college whenever they move out of the hostel/campus.
ix. All the hostel residents are expected to be aware and know the rules and regulations. Pleading ignorance of the same at stage will not be accepted.
x. Misconduct or breach of ANY of the rules of the hostel renders the offender liable to the denial of the hostel accommodation.
xi. Ragging is a legally punishable offence. Students caught for the offence will be evicted from the hostel and removed from the rolls of MGC.
xii. The above rules and regulation are not exhaustive. The hostel authorities are empowered to bring in any new rules and regulations without prior notice as and when the situation warrants.



Hostel Mess

The following rules and regulations mentioned here under to be strictly adhered by the boarder students.

i. The students who are enrolled in the hostel only have the right to enter into mess premises ii. No boarders of the Hostels are allowed to take his / her meal from outside sources at any condition while College mess is in operation.
iii. Misbehavior to employees of Mess will be seriously viewed and liable for punishment.
iv. Shouting and otherwise creating disturbances in the Mess is strictly prohibited.
v. Ragging in any manner in the Mess premises is strictly banned. Anybody reported or found to be indulged in such act will be brought to notice of Principal / any other higher authority for disciplinary action which may lead to dismissal from the institution.
vi. Boarders have timing for their Breakfast. Lunch. Evening Refreshment & Dinner in the mess. The respective time schedule mentioned for the purpose is to be strictly followed.
The students are required to come to the mess during their specified timings only, not before or after.
vii. Guest meal can be availed only with due permission from the Mess – in charge / Superintendent of hostels on request.
viii. No one is allowed to take his/her meal to the room, unless he/she sick. During sickness the concerned boarder is required to inform in advance about hi/she her diet to the mess – in – charge or superintendent.
ix. For any sort of problems regarding mess, the mess – in – charge / the superintendent / Asst. Superintendent can be contacted in person and the problems can be sorted out by discussion.
